To celebrate the Marian month of May, we have found a beautiful prayer to our Blessed Mother. The link is noted below.
Below is a link as to why, how and where Mother’s Day first originated.
On behalf of St. James CWL (Catholic Women’s League) we wish all women a Happy Mother’s Day. May God’s Blessings be with you always! Where did Mother’s Day Come From
A letter was prepared to voice the views of the Catholic Women’s League regarding Bill 10: “Guidelines for Best Practices”. All members in Alberta are encouraged to write this letter to David Eggen, Minister of Education.
The individual letter is found below. Please write your letter, sign it as an individual, provide a return address and send it to the Minister of Education as soon as you can. (Appropriate postage will be required.) Encourage your family and friends to do the same.
St. James CWL have been supporting the lunch programs at our local schools, namely, St. Mary’s, Ecole Good Shepherd and St. Luke’s for about four years with an annual monetary donation.
A few years ago our Education & Health Chair, Shirley Conway, introduced a ‘snack’ portion where members are requested to bring their donation to our general monthly meeting or place them in the St. Vincent de Paul drop box, found in the front entrance to St. James Church, for the next two weeks after the meeting date. These items are collected and then brought to the schools.
Below is the requested donation and updated on a monthly basis as information is received.
- January: peanut-free granola bars
- February: cheese and crackers
- March: tuna and crackers
St. James Catholic Women’s League will host a Heart & Stroke Presentation on Monday, February 22, 2016 at St. James Church (Narthex). Check the following link to view the poster for more information.
Today, February 18th, 2015, St. James Catholic Women’s League made a donation of $500.00 to the Tudor Manor’s Handibus Fundraiser.
This money was half of the proceeds from the League Christmas Bake Sale in late November 2014.
Thank you, Ladies!
